Bio
James Meese is a currently a PhD candidate and is affiliated with the Centre of Excellence in Creative Industries and Innovation (CCI) at the Institute for Social Research, Swinburne University of Technology.
P2P Research Summary
His research is situated in the field of critical copyright studies, and his addresses the insufficient attention paid to the critical role that copyrighted works play in personal development (Tehranian, 2011). Drawing primarily on research in the areas of copyright law, informal economies and media ecology, this thesis looks at how four subjects of copyright law are framed by policy, law and discourse: the author, user, the creative and the pirate.
His research interests include intellectual property law, critical theory, consumption, informal economies and piracy, material culture studies. and authorship and his writing has appeared in Computers and Composition, the European Journal of Cultural Studies and Media International Australia.
