P2P Production Support Infrastructure

Context

This page is originally inspired by the Fourthsector.net's page outlining a Supportive Ecosystem for the Fourth Sector, which consists of a new type of market entities which can blend for-profit and not-for-profit practices based on concepts of Blended Value, Shared Value, etc ..

The limitations of the Fourth Sector approach, from a more strict 'P2P' point of view, is that such entities are not per se engaged in Peer Production, which requires the sharing of knowledge, code, or designs in a Commons; amongst other requirements. Their approach is also U.S.-centric.

Nevertheless, Fourth Sector organizations could be the privileged form that commons-friendly enterprises can take, since the lack of the sole drive for profit maximisation, makes them more likely to respect the logic of the commons.
