Description

"Members of creative communities and the public came together in Paris in June 2006, seeking to identify common interests and new opportunities to collaborate and to draft a joint statement, the Paris Accord. Among the many areas discussed, an agreement emerged in Paris over the need for collective arrangements permitting and remunerating the free circulation of musical works. They can take the form of voluntary cooperatives of artists and users or that of a levied legal licence. Against the background of a powerful alliance of public and artists in France and political parties among others in Sweden favouring such a solution, this model promises significant progress. WOS 3 has addressed alternative compensation systems already. WOS 4 will take the debate further."
