This was a hugely influential 'cyberpunk' science fiction book in the early nineties. Even before the browser was invented, but with the world already immersed in talk about 3D virtual reality, this was perhaps the first book to imagine a fully fledged Metaverse, with its characters able to cross from the physical to the virtual and back again.
