Yes , there are infrastructures , or rather " non-infrastructures " that can be further developed ...

opening up opportunities for simple complexity - a greater number of opportunities and value creation - and yes , learning non-structures and environments are , from my point of view , indeed one of the pieces of the broader picture of such paradigm , and paradigm-shift.

As with all of us I was self learning since always , but perhaps I was just a bit more aware then some other kids that my self creative learning seemed to be more effective and intrinsically motivating as a coercive reproductive learning in a set structure. So I dropped out of school as I felt the approach imposed on me was a loss of time , meaningless , and totally depressing , trying to get out of the pressure of norms and ended up at the other side of the world when I was 16 ( well , my father was living in Taiwan , and after two months there I somehow ended up in Malaysia , stayed one and a half years in the region , came back , etc etc etc)

I did not find the "official " and " formal " learning environment " structure " - I guess they call it higher education - that suited me , and realized that there was no need for a structure - but that a better use of existing resources was possible and could open up many opportunities.

I felt isolated for a long time , but after finding out more and more about certain references , I just went on learning by myself and ended up here writing about this with you folks.

I realize around me that there is a great demand for simple complexity , non-structured , collaborative environments and opportunities. This is where I see much of the value of potential spaces like " the hubs " , although I realize in the development of the hub brussels that somehow people in charge still tend to reproduce their old paradigm conditional habbits. reproducing cristallizations - with lack of transparency , a culture countering access to information and in effect too often preferring to take a path of specific centralized control , leading to a lack of open communication channels , and reducing the potential for mutual empowerment and initiatives , ...

So , to try to give some more clarity ... by non-infrastructure , I tend to mean ...

a culture opening up access to existing resources while using and developing them even further , collaboratively.

to give a basic example , I sometimes call " hitch hiking " a practice that uses existing infrastructure - roads , cars , ... - and optimizes its use , although there is no central organization and control , and it depends on some kind of self-managed non-structure on top of existing structures , opening up new value creation through inconditionality and collaboration.

I also imagine that non-structure could build on non-structure , ... and I imagine , through my experience of living based on economics in a non-structure ( or meta non-structure ? ) , that non-structures can open up other non-structures , and open up emergence of various levels of abstraction in non-structure economics. In other words , there is no coercion in a non-structure , simply opening up of opportunties through inspiration and mutual trust , which opens up an opportunity for an action , and further enables some form of contemplation of this action which in itself can potentially lead to other inspirations , etc - it is a creative process that is , what I call " metatizing " , not being " cristallized " , although there might be addictions / cristallizations at other levels of abstration , the metatized process/non structure tends to further de-crystallize other structures , and open up new possibilities for value creation through ad-hoc creations of " relations ".

Hence the science of " relations " becoming extremely valuable , as it can be a foundation for our new economics and politics , and also , for a new meta-language , and meta-cortex.

I also try to give some details here : http://oikoumene.coforum.net/processdimensions

I remember I saw a piece of documentary somewhere on the internet or on tv ( or was it a dream ? ) , showing how the evolution of nature and species might have more to do with collaboration then competition.

The other day , I ended up on a podcast of Rheingold on biology and collaboration that reminded me of that documentary - you ll find it here : http://www.rheingold.com/HowardSpeaks.mp3 and the night before I also ended up watching a interesting TED presentation in relation to Ant Colonies :

( by the way , I tend to add links to my delicious http://del.icio.us/deliciousdante - with tags such as " Swarm " , etc )

This metaphor is not new - yet I m not always sure that the companies that sometimes use such swarm metaphors understand it , or experiment with it ...

I just hope that " swarming " at a organizational / managment point of view will not become one of these missunderstood ideas ( such as " hacker " ending up being interpreted as " cracker " , following missuse of the word by media )

Anyway , words and phrases still somewhat seem complicated to me.

Project wise , I m still interested in reviving as much as can dorming potential of the UIA database of world issues and human potential ,

and converging individuals in non-structured collaborative learning , not only in a digital environment like this one , but preferably in a non digital setting ( hence the importance of local non digital human networking , attractors based on intentions and interests , non digital spaces , ... )

and finding a way to blend both digital and non digital experiments and process/knowledge/relations building ...

By the way , an idea for later - perhaps some of you played with lego blocks , or wooden blocks , when you where younger ? I m really interested in using such medium , at different size scales , both digital and non-digital , and also the combination between the two , and understand how to connect and build on them while also associating them with processes , information and knowledge.

I really would be happy to have a big set of soft yet firm blocks of different shapes/geometries , have the capacity to fold them , find ways of making them extremely strong and long lasting , making them sustainable but also use ecological materials , that would be easily available and very low cost , and can be produced easily.

I m interested in temporary , or rather , continually evolving structures , and non-structures , and the relations between them. Hence also the interest in the interaction between blocks/structures , with processes of change of shape and position of blocks and their position and relations between each other , with at the same time the capacity to build on abstractions and non structures at the level of relations with the blocks , but with other pieces of information.

Space / Shape / Movement and Process / Information - and also digital / non-digital , and the interaction with the people and the effects on them , opening up new mediums for living spaces , processes , visualization , interaction , and expression - new forms of language.

ok , I copyleft this ;-)

perhaps you know some related projects ? what is fun with such kind of aproach is that it is possible to start with some more basic forms of abstraction , and then gradually increase the level of abstraction in the relations ... and its also fun ... well , when I play with it in my head :-p - I also like the aesthetics of it - I imagine that even in public spaces we could have some huge blocks composed of other smaller blocks ,

anyway , just brainstorming ...
