"The "food web" is a set of connections between food and politics, economics, environmental concerns, science, and culture. And that food web is facing some major and potentially devastating challenges in the coming decade. Our global food system relies on cheap energy, water, and labor, and a disruption in any of those areas—as well as the threat of diseases in a globally distributed food—could bring the whole system crashing down."
