Description
"Most current DRM Systems fail to address consumer needs with respect to user-friendliness and fair use. Fraunhofer's Light Weight Digital Rights Management System (LWDRM), in contrast, follows a different approach in order to meet the demands of both content providers and consumers.
The basic idea of LWDRM is to permit copying of content if the user is willing to mark such content with his personal digital signature. Depending on the prevalent legislation, the system allows the user to transfer content to family, friends and favourite portable LWDRM devices within the constraints of fair use. Security is guaranteed by state-of-the-art encryption standards, and a second-line-of-defense realized with Fraunhofer IIS watermarking technology."
