"How does humanity organize to get work done? One answer would be to say we organize by creating organizations that are either “private sector,” “public (government) sector,” or “non-profit sector.” But did you know that in recent years a new form of organizing has appeared, that some call Commons-based Peer Production (CBPP)?

You undoubtedly know Wikipedia, one of the classic cases of CBPP. But have you heard of other cases such as “Open Source Software,” “Open Educational Resources,” or the “Maker Movement” and “Makerspaces”?

In this seminar, we will discuss these cases and also focus some discussion on key components such as “Copyleft” licensing and cloud-based collaborative platforms that help to enable this form of “social production” to exist and expand."
