Financial support

The P2P Foundation operates with a small core team supported by both an annual grant and specific project funding. Beginning in 2014, Foundation Charles Léopold Mayer (FPH) has generously granted the P2P Foundation with an annual allotment of 66,000€, shared among what are, since 2017, described as the core “streams”. Since November 2018, Holochain has kindly provided us with an additional 120,000 € in annual funding, once again shared among the streams. Funding for several specific projects, like research reports and dedicated websites such as the Value in the Commons Economy report and Commons Transition and P2P: A Primer have been provided with the help and support of funders including the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the Transnational Institute, which have enabled additional contracted work for roles such as research, graphic and web design, illustration and web/technical support. Specific local or national government-supported projects, such as the recent Commons Transition project for Ghent, Belgium, and consultation projects such as SmartBE, have directly supported the Vision stream.

Additionally, P2P Lab maintains partnerships in a variety of research projects and its own funding and accounting/operations. For the period of  2017-2019, P2P Lab receives financial support from: i. Two grants of the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research, namely the IUT(19-13) and the B52; ii. One grant under the Interreg V-B Balkan-Mediterranean programme; and iii. One grant under the Erasmus+, Key Action 2 – Knowledge Alliances programme.

The P2P Foundation is growing, developing our own long-range projects and seeking support for our ongoing sustainability. Additionally, it is working closely with other sister associations on large-scale goals related to P2P and the Commons. The Foundation is an integral partner in the emerging policy-oriented association, the European Commons Assembly (ECA), working alongside the Commons Network, European Alternatives and Remix the Commons, among others, to develop long term sustainability and information management strategies for the ECA and also the individual participating partners. Finally, the Foundation gladly accepts individual or group donations from its rapidly expanding global network, to ensure that its work in theory, policy, research and advocacy for P2P and the Commons may continue to inform and inspire. Please visit the Donate page to offer your support, and feel free to contact us if you would like to share any ideas.
